Yvonne Leclair Fisher grew up outside Boston in Westborough, Mass., and went to Ithaca College in upstate New York, where she pursued a degree in Sociology. After completing her undergraduate degree, she worked at a 45-day shelter for teenage girls in Boston for two years while working toward a Master’s Degree in Social Work at Simmons College.  She moved to Martha’s Vineyard while completing her Master’s Degree, and she was married in May.  She worked at an Edgartown preschool for five years before deciding for a fresh change at ICS.  Yvonne is a strong believer in the value of socio-dramatic play for cognitive and social development in young children; hence she and her co-teachers are constantly switching it up to give the kids new roles and ideas with which to play.  Art, music, mixed media, and of course, good old-fashioned books are all valuable components of her daily routine with the children.
