Special Events

Throughout the year Island Children’s
School staff offers a variety of special events that serve to bring
children, parents, and staff together for casual fun. Sometimes we show
off a new activity or skill we’ve learned; sometime we work together on
a project for the school. Typical events include:
-
Pot Luck Suppers,
offered several times each year.
-
Hot Muffin
Mornings, a low key and fun school breakfast offered periodically
throughout the year. Children help prepare the food we serve each
time.
-
Special
Luncheons: Sometimes we honor moms and dads or volunteers,
sometimes we celebrate a holiday such as Chinese New Year with
traditional foods we help prepare. These events often highlight
something we have been learning about at school.
-
Song and Dance Days
help us show off the music and movement we have learned throughout the
year.
-
Earth Day or
Arbor Day: We usually plant our window boxes and help beautify the
school.
-
May Day: We
dance around the May Pole and offer May baskets for our moms and dads.
-
Last Day of
school: We work hard to make strawberry frozen yogurt, write
special stories and read them for moms and dads. It’s a festive last
day before summer.
